Old and Decrepit

When I'm old and decrepit just take me to New York and let me live there till the end of my days.

My my four days at New York were (what's a word that i haven't used recently...i've already done bliss, joy, awesome, cool?) ecstasy? you get the point.

My parents, Ian, Duncan, Ryan, and I left in the Rialta around twelve thirty on Friday. Bria and Aaron would follow later after Aaron had his piano lesson. I was looking forward to a nice long and relaxing ride....little did i know that it would be far from the ideal five hour trip. The first thing that went wrong was my Dad bringing his GPS. Two words describe what I thought when he stuck it in the door. Uh oh. And sure enough, we ended up disregarding all sensible directions and took some round-about route to Oneonta, which didn't work out. I won't go into all of the painful details, but I'll just say that we got stuck once, had to back down a mountain, got lost quite a few times, and reached the Holschers in a hunkin' six hours. But, at least we were there.

I was greeted at the door by Spiderman and Becca. (For those of you who do not know, Spiderman is NOT Peter Parker, but Caleb Holscher.) We unpacked, and I walked around the house and remembered what room was where and how to get around. Then we had Sabbath meeting and Sabbath Treat. Bria and Aaron reached the house an hour after we did, (and they left at two thirty)

I can't really remember tons and tons of stuff that we did, just a few things. I'll try to remember some of the most interesting.

On Saturday we went sledding. (Down the hill that Klara once told me took fifteen minjutes to get down, then corrected herself a year later and said five, and once again corrected herself a few years later and it turns out it takes thirty seconds to reach the bottom) Becca and Ruth have a couple very cool sleds, and Ruth and I were the fastest combination. Ryan mastered the snow board, we played snow tic-tac-toe, had snowball fights, etc.

I did the goats with Klara a few times because Katherine was sick. Each time Ben and Aaron devised evil plans to scare us. They succeeded, but it took a few tries! Once Klara and I sneaked around the back and after giving the goats their hay we peered through a crack in the wall and saw Bria, Aaron, andBen crouched around the barn door gesturing excitedly at eachother to remain quiet and as sneaky as possible. Then Klara made the sounds of a coyote and I made the sounds of a goat being eaten (not loverly noises) until the we couldn't any longer. We cracked ourselves up. After they managed to scare me the kids pretended to go in but really came out back and threw fire crackers. I threw a bucket of water at Ben....and only got his foot. How sad. Anyone wuld be frightened, though, if they heard Ben scream...not a pretty noise.

WE played Cranium, talked a ton, I got electricuted by a wire carrying a charge of 500 volts (long story), Ben almost had his soul stolen from him, Becca and Ruth got better from the chicken pox, Spiderman webbed a few people...we did lots of exciting stuff like that.

Oh, yeah. The ride home was smooth and fun and fast.

Should I Set A Date?

The Feast was good. The sports were the best, but people already know that by now, I think. Volleyball was cool, but sadly people started dropping off my team. We started with six people, then kayla left, then Devan sprained his ankle and so we had to play diamond. Bruce Cook, me, Aaron, and Adam were able to pull it off and whooped the other team...sorry peoples, it's true. Warball was good as well, but a few people as well as myself think that Mr. Knowles was picking me out of a crowd to get out. Bleah.

One of the first days that I was at Fairwood, I was running down the Lodge stairs and decided to run through a puddle of water at the bottom of the staircase. I charged "through" it, but it turned out that it was no longer a puddle of water, but a puddle of ice. My legs crumpled and I skidded along the ground gracefully. I actually don't know if it was graceful...but I ended up with a pleasant quarter sized scrape which continues to drip blood for the next ten or fifteen minutes. My shoe is a testimony to that.

My favorite meeting was Uncle Neil's about Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah the Provider. He talked about how he meets all of our needs, no matter what they are, and that He'll fill us up to overflowing with what we need.

Well, here's an interesting story. I was playing warball up in the gym with steph and caleb. klara and steph and I had been trying to get Caleb to say something to me about getting married, because Klara had told me that the night before Caleb announced that he was going to marry me. here's the conversation:

Me- "I love you, Caleb."
Caleb- "I love you too, oh yeah, Cara, Will you marry me?"
Me- "We'll see."
"That means no." (SAd face here)
"WEll, how about you ask me again when you're sixteen?"
"AAw, I might forget by then. How about when I'm six?"
"Okay."

(meanwhile steph snickered in the background)

At dinner he came over to me and sat down next to me and started to whisper messages into my ear.

"Cara, I was too embarrassed up in the gym to tell you, but I think you're beautiful. And Cara, you're jazzy, you're really jazzy."
"Aww! THanks!"

Isn't that so sweet of him? I'm starting to consider his offer. Should I set up a date? Unfortunately, I don't like the idea of a really long engagement...and, well, a husband nine years old younger than me is not my ideal situtation. Sorry Caleb. Please, NOBODY break the news to him. I don't think anyone would, but i had to say it anyway cause it would just be too sad if someone did.

I've been obsessed with Ryan's new pc game. Spiderman 2. I just love spidey...now THAT'S who i'm going to marry! wait, did Mary Jane end up marrying him? oh well, i think he's already taken. (I've fought Doc Ock once so far...I won.)

It's getting late and I've had a cold, but it's been awesome to write again! It's almost like old times! I guess i'm not as into this blog thing as i was before. For a whle there i was writing every day. *sigh*

In A Few More Years...

One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored is to go on the Internet and look at dresses. A website which I have fun with is this gaelic/scottish website. I was just looking at a few of their dresses this afternoon, and guess what I found? A nice, pretty dress (oh yes, I forgot to mention that they title all of their wedding dresses) named cara! I didn't really love it, because it had lots of golden embroidery running along the front, but then they mentioned that they have another option and I clicked on that. It was the same dress with white embroidery, and it was called Cara B! Hmm...

The paragraph about the dress mentioned that it was named after the small Scottish island, Cara, so I looked it up. Sure enough! There's The Island of Cara a little of Gigha Island and it's a little over a mile long and o.5 miles wide, around one hundred fifty feet high! Maybe I'll get there someday!

Snow Snow? Snow!

Sorry guys, I don't know what happened. I really did post under this title! Oh well...

I said that (the snow snow? snow!) because we had a grand ol' nor'easter. But that's come and gone.

Another thing I mentioned was that I had a dermatologist appointment...my skin is clear and great! The doctor was ecstatic.

I also got my hair cut. Approximately six inches off. This time for real! I love it. My dad didn't like it at first, but now he insists he does.

Today my mom is out and about in Vermont. She is taking Ian and Duncan to the Doctor. Just a three monthly check with this guy. I really, strongly dislike that Doctor, though, because he's the one who misdiagnosed me with Candida. What a dumb dude.

Here are a few "cheesestick jokes." Yes, I know they're enough to double you up in agony, but at the same time, they make you feel smart because they are not that hard to figure out!

What do you get when you cross a scientist and a peacock?
A PEA BRAIN!

How do people walk through walls?
DOORS!

How do you take the paint of a tall building?
With a sky scraper.

How do you call a cash register?
Ring it up!

Why do worms sleep in?
To keep away from the early birds.

When do ducks wake up?
At the quack of dawn.

Alrighty, I'll stop torturing you. Those are pretty awful, aren't they? We call them cheesestick jokes cause we got them off...CHEESE STICKS! Makes sense, I guess.

Just Give It To The Dog, That'll Solve ALL Your Problems

I did another of my "seven hour babysitting specials" today. Fortunately Sydney's a good girl. Her friend (Annabelle) is a handful, however. She's continually doing something loud or active. Whenever you ask her to say please, she screams it in your ear, and then laughs her head off because it was the funniest thing she'd ever done. Robin left me alone with Sydney for the first time. She was letting Sydney get used to me, and she was having me come over while she was still there. It was a great idea. No seperation issues!!! Hooray!
I made Sydney's dinner. (chicken and rice), but Sydney wanted dry cereal. I comlied. She ate a bunch of it, and I used up the last of the milk serving her. I finally had her dinner plate prepared and I set it down in front of her. It was a great meal. But two year old's brains are somewhate twisted at times, and she decided she'd rather have more cereal. I answered her plea with a no, you have to eat your chicken first. She wouldn't do it, so it went down to only two pieced of chicken. Still, no. Eventually, I had to leave the room for a few seconds, and I came back to a guilty looking Sydney and a plate with no chicken. I was so pleased. I didn't catch on to the guilty look until later. I asked her if the chicken was yummy, and she sadly replied, "Sage grabbded it." I looked at her suspiciously and that's when the guiltiness started to appear noticable. Then, on a sudden whim, she picked up her plate (still loaded with rice and a little chicken) and set it on the ground right in front of the dog. She looked up at me with a challenge in her eye. I just ignored it and tried to pull the dog off the plate, not that I would make sydney eat it anyway, but I still tried. anyway, I coped with it in my own way. So, in this case, Sydney's problems were mostly solved by just giving it to the dog. She still didn't get cereal or ice cream...

Sad Story

I just remembered a story that distressed me very much, but which you may find funny:

One day mom discovered that we had run out of diapers (bad thing) and had me run out to the Rialta (our fam's RV) and see if we had any extras in there. I went out, and fortunately it wasn't winter but spring, and searched a few cabinets with no success. Finally, I sat down on the floor to open a cabinet that's under Duncan's seat. The way the handle works, you have to pull a little latch with your finger and it will open, but unfortunately it seemed to be annoyingly stuck. So, I pushed and pulled really hard at the same time, and *WHAM* the latch opened, my hand went down in the latch and got stuck, and the door shut again. I was mad. I couldn't pull my ifnger out, etiher, because when ipulled up all of the skin bunched up or something and prevented my release. I tried to pull and get it out for over fifteen minutes, but to no avail!! So I tried a few other things. I had a very limited supply of tools to get myself "unstuck." I tried cutting the thick plastic handle with scissors, but i only succeeded in creating small scratch marks. (remember people, itwas my right hand that was stuck--I'm right handed) I was getting desperate. There was no dish soap in reach to soap it with. I opened the bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit and tried a few random thingsm but they didn't work. I tried writing a nte on a stray baby wipe and tucking it in my cat's collar who had sweetly visited me, but that didn't work. Finallym I heard Ryan come by. I yelleed to him to bring me a screw driver, and he did. So i unscrewed myself and brought it inside. Aaron had very little pity for me when i gasped with PAIN when he tried to pull it off. But he did have more pity later when he found out that i'd been stuck in the Rialta for TWO HOURS! We finally soaped it and after much more painful tugging it came off. The moral? There isn't one.

Lady Come Down...

i watched The Importance of Being Earnest last night! funny movie...I LOVE the song Lady Come Down. I sing it all of the time now...

Yesterday, on a last minute whim my mom and i headed out to Kayla's house and joined a whole bunch of people for a Lord of the Rings marathon. Heavy duty movie watching! clyde had rigged a screen thingy so we got to see it big. i hadn't seen the fellowship's special editoin with extra scenes yet, and it was like watching a whole new movie. i actually liked legolas more now that i thought of him as legolas and not as orlando bloom playing legolas. sorry orland-bloom-lovers, i think he's a creep. Clyde was quite the gentleman and offered to drive me home around ten or eleven at night if i wanted to stay and watch ROTK, but i just watched that a while ago, and so i declined his generous offer.

not much to say! today was just church and Lord's Supper and sunday school. now i'm home and just waiting for Sue Thomas FBI!

see ya round, guys!

I finished my hat that i was knitting, I got a perfect score in a Science test, I watched an awesome movie, I got to talk to wonderful friends on IM, what more could i want? I'm content! not something that i am a lot of the tme, but for now i'm just resting and reveling in the glory of feeling this way.

i'm so glad that steph is back from maine and is once again on the internet all the time! i miss your comments, steph!!! love ya girl!

so guess what i just realizd? my bruises from the youth weekend are finally starting to go away!!! yay! thanks to a few certain people, my knees are rawther purplish still. my right knee especially. at least they aren't swollen anymore... i loved every minute of getting the bruises; catchign balls is my specialty! and i LOVE it! not that i do catch them all the time, but let's say 90% of the time. except for last weekend doesn't count, cause i'd just been sick and had very little energy so i only caught about two out of fifteen.

i shall go now, and browse every one else's blogs! hurray for that...

Ho-Hum

You got it. I'm bored. But i've been saying all day that i wanted to write on my blog, so here i am. :D Actually, I'm in aaron's room right now cause he's downloading stuff from the internet, and because we don't have a cool DSL I can't go on a pc anywhere else, so here i am. okay, i'm freaked out. this is really weird. all i'm looking at is the keyboard. i'm using aaron's wireless keyboard and mouse, and i'm so far away from the monitor that i can't see a thing that i'm writing. aaron's reading my stuff and telling me when i make a mistake. HI AARON! (Aaron wants me to write that he's such a cool person, but i'm not complying.)

My mom just called and needs the phone.....

Okay, it's tomorrow, or rather today. I didn't get to finishing my post last night.

Alrighty, I heard a funny story which I thought was awesome, so, here it is. My mom said that when she was living in Dover, NH with Daddy, they had some borders. One family had two kids...a boy and a baby. Well, apparently the boy was an early riser and he decided to do his mom a favor, so he grabbed a nice large bottle of orange soda. can you guess what's coming? i wasn't able to. He went into his little sisters room and washed her hair...with orange soda. Sticky, orange, etc. NOt a pleasant situation.

i'm learning about magnets in science now. it always struck me funny that science books always seem to illustrate opposite charges or just plain opposite stuff as two little things (i.e electrons and protons, in this case domains with opposite spin directions) with lovey dovey expressions staring at eachother. Today i had one of the domains, and the guy was wearing a little blue beanie. the girl had lipstick, and that was how you knew it was a girl, or femail domain, or whatever....

i cut my finger today!!! those exclamation points do not mean happiness. i was wiping hte counter and sawed it on a serated blade...long story. i now have little ridges where the serated thingys sawed away. kind of like a bagel or a slice of bread...

O Solo Mio

What does that mean anyway? I prolly should be able to figure it out, but it's rawther complicated to my limited knowledge of foreign words.

Bria is coming home tomorrow! yay! i've missed her. I was supposed to clean up her room today, but i didn't end up getting to it. Lisa and Katie and I slept in her room a few weeks ago, and we hadn't gotten to cleaning any of the mattresses and sheets out. We were planning on getting Bria a bureau while we were gone, but we couldn't find any that really would go in her room.

Now I'm mad. one of my many brothers just did something that annoyed me to no end, and now I don't feel like writing cause i'm mad. oh well, guess that's stupid.

Got tons of school done today. Learning about World War II, Evolution vs. Creation, pronouns, and lots of stuff in math. Right now i'm at a good place in school. Everything is pretty interesting, which I'm grateful for. I'd planned out that this would be the worst school year ever, but it hasn't turned out to be too bad.

Well, my stupidity is overtaking me and I think i'm tired of writing for now. :D Sorry peoples.
